Luncheons are held on the first three Thursdays of each month from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Oahu Country Club. A short list of recent speakers and their topics are below. If you would like a list of upcoming speakers, please email Ed Kemper at


Art Ushijima, President & CEO of Queens Medical Center, Hawai'i's largest hospital, enlightened us with some medical figures and trends that face the hospital, the medical profession, and all of us. 


Lieutenant Colonel Charlie Kim of the U.S. Army’s 25th Infantry Division shared some of his experiences during his recent deployment to help develop the economy of northern Iraq.


Master Sommelier Chuck Furuya encouraged us to try many wines and described approaches to do so. He also donated a bottle of wine to our White Elephant Sale to pump up our Turn Around Scholarship fund.

Michael Broderick, a Hawaii Family Court judge, described the challenges in dealing with children before that court and what the Club might be able to do to help.

Chenoa Farnsworth, the Executive Director of Hawaii Angels (Hawai‘i’s only Angel capital investment network, discussed "Angel Investing: Opportunities and Challenges."

Paul Kosasa, President and CEO of ABC Stores, shared business management principles and family experiences that contributed to the success of the company and its 73 stores (current at the time of his talk).

Lieutenant Governor Duke Aiona shared some of his beliefs and goals in government and in life. He also provided Club members with photo opportunities.


Jaime Ushiroda of Project Visitation provided a program update and received the $10,000 Weinberg check made possible through the Club.
